Holiday Garbage Pick-up Schedule will be as follows:

 

Wednesday, December 24, 2014 -   No Change (picked up on normal schedule)

 

Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26 – will be picked up on Monday, December 29, 2014.

More Holiday Fun in Collinsville

The Christmas Parade will be on Saturday December 13, 2014 at 3pm.  Anyone may enter a float and the prize are $250 for first, $150 for second, and $100 for third.  The following Monday, December 15, 2014 at 5pm is the annual Open House at Collinsville Public Library.  Come have supper and view our newly opened second floor.  Everyone is invited-and expected!

Town Council will not meet on October 20, 2014

No meeting will be held on Monday October 20, 2014 for the Town Council.  Next meeting date is Monday November 3, 2014.

RESOLUTION NO. 04-2014

WHEREAS, domestic violence hurts Alabama families, our children and our communities; and

WHEREAS, in 2013, 20,489 domestic violence assaults were reported in Alabama; and

WHEREAS, one in three women are victims of domestic violence in the United States; and

WHEREAS, it takes an average of 7.5 times for a woman to leave her batterer permanently; and

WHEREAS, the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence serves as the statewide

professional association representing Alabama’s 18 certified domestic violence shelters. These

facilities provide emergency shelter, crisis counseling, clothes, food, court assistance, job

training and a host of critical other services for domestic violence victims and their children; and

WHEREAS, by calling ACADV’s hotline, 1-800-650-6522, the caller will automatically be

directed to the closest domestic violence shelter; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Collinsville, in correlation with First Lady Dianne Bentley

and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence, recognizes the severity of domestic

violence and encourages citizens and communities to work together to prevent abuse, help

victims become survivors, and promote healthy relationships and families:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Johnny Traffanstedt, Mayor of the Town of Collinsville, do hereby

proclaim the month of October 2014 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the Town of

Collinsville, and encourage citizens to display purple bows on the doors of safe

homes and businesses.

Retirement Party

Harold and Susie Riggs

 A retirement celebration was held on June 30, 2014 for Town of Collinsville dispatcher Harold Riggs.  Dozens of friends and family were joined by Mayor Traffanstedt, members of the City Council and employees to send off this special retiree. 

The Town of Collinsville will be providing the annual Fourth of July fireworks show at the south park on Friday July 4th at 9:00.  Please thank our Fire Department who donate their time to set up this spectacular show.

English for Health Classes

English for Health Classes are being held each Saturday from 2:00-4:00 at Collinsville Library.  Lessons focus on both learning English and health care concerns.  Please call to register 256-524-2323.
