Returners in BOLD

Quoting Coach Beckett:

On the Spring

"We've had several winning days. We've taken several days to evaluate players and try to pair them up with the best positions for the team. We've taken a couple more days to learn terminology. Then we will take a day or two to prepare for the spring game."

New Faces

"We have several new guys playing. They are, for the most part, lost as a goose. However, we encourage them to stay with it and things will get better. The return of Daniel Bradford could really help the team."

Replacing Lost Players

"We have several players who will be very tough to replace. It was a very good senior class that won lots of games. We feel great about CJ Jones (at quarterback). He's a different quarterback than Nathan but brings a lot to the table."

Goals of the Spring

"Find linebackers is at the top of our list. We lost several good ones. We, also, need to find overall depth."

Spring Game

"Last year we new our identity. This year we have an idea but we want to find out for sure. We want to find out who can help so we have several guys who need to cut their teeth irreguardless of the outcome."

Fyffe

"Playing someone like Fyffe makes your team better. They are the best of the best. When I first got to Collinsville, I wanted to show the team what type practices we wanted. So we loaded the team up and went to a Fyffe practice. I thought it helped our players to see that tough mindset."

"They'll have another good team. Their kids are so tough and their staff is second to none. The way they run the jet-series is straight out of a clinic."

Crossville

"It is good for the two to play. Before Crossville was a 4A, it was a big rivalry. Now, the two schools have a big student-population difference."

Nathan Coker Commits to Play Football at Birmingham Southern

Nathan Coker has commits to Southern

After a prestigious high school career, Nathan Coker has decided to go Birmingham Southern and play college football.

Nathan plans to pursue pre-med. Coaches want to look at him as either a slot receiver or cornerback.

Nathan had a banner senior season. He was named First-Team All-State, Times-Journal Offensive Player of the Year, Gadsden Times All-Area Offensive Player of the Year, and Region MVP.

Nathan played quarterback and cornerback and went 77-128 passing for 1,480 yards and 16 TD's. Rushed 84 times for 549 yards. Defensively 3 interceptions, 26 tackles as a shut-down corner.

Nathan was named Region Offensive MVP his Junior year as well. Nathan made All-County and Times-Journal All-County his junior season.

Nathan missed his sophmore season due to a car wreck suffered the night of the fall jamboree. However, his freshmen season he led the team with six interceptions.

Nathan was a two-year starter in basketball and baseball. During his sophmore season he played soccer after the baseball team had finsihed and was a impact player.

All the time maintaining a solid GPA and ACT score.

Quoting Coach Beckett

"What jumps out at me first is that he is so popular with the student body. He blends in with every segment of our student population. He is very polite and does a great job with his grades. Nathan is very ambitious and does well at every thing he encounters."
