Resolution Honoring Councilmember Thomas Williams



STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF DEKALB
TOWN OF COLLINSVILLE



RESOLUTION NO. 10-2015
HONORING COUNCILMEMBER THOMAS WILLIAMS


WHEREAS,  the Mayor, Town Council, Town Staff and the Collinsville community as a whole has lost a valued member and citizen on June 5, 2015, with the death of Councilmember Thomas Williams, and

WHEREAS, Councilmember Williams was elected to the Town Council in 1992 and has faithfully served his community for 23 years, and

WHEREAS, his devotion to his community will forever have a profound effect on the people of Collinsville.

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Collinsville, Alabama that the Town of Collinsville recognizes the achievements and contributions of Councilmember Williams and expresses its appreciation and gratitude for those contributions.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that by the death of Councilmember Thomas Williams, the Town of Collinsville has been deprived of one of its outstanding Councilmembers and the community as a whole deprived of a beloved and distinguished citizen.

Rex Leath Retires

A reception was held on July 27, 2015 at Collinsville Public Library to honor retiring Assistant Police Chief Rex Leath.  Rex has a combined 30 years of service to Collinsville and other surrounding communities.  Many past and present co-workers and friends came by to thank Rex for his service.  A shadow box representing his time in law enforcement was given to Rex as a retirement gift.

On July 20, 2015 the Town Council of Collinsville welcomed Mrs. Kathy Jelks as it newest council member.  Mrs. Jelks will represent the citizens of district one.  This district seat was held by Mr. Thomas Williams for the last twenty-three years until his recent passing.  City Clerk Peggy Wright administered the Oath of Office at the regular session of the council meeting held on July 20, 2015

The Town of Collinsville is saddened at the loss of Council Member Thomas Williams.  He has served the Town of Collinsville and his district as Councilman since October 5, 1992.  He passed away on June 5, 2015.

In 2014, he was awarded the distinguished service award in recognition of outstanding performance in promoting the aims and objectives of the Alabama League of Municipalities.

The Town and citizens of Collinsville appreciate the work and dedication of Councilman Williams.  We send our sincerest condolences to his family.
